House of Willow Alexander

Design · The Studios

A small design circle, properly chosen.

Every studio working under the House Approved seal is chosen for taste, care, and the ability to leave a home better understood than they found it. We keep the circle small on purpose: a few people we trust, not a directory.

The circle at launch

Two live routes. One growing circle.

Each carries the House Approved seal under the same three tests, and stays in the circle only as long as those tests hold.

What House Approved means in design

Three tests, every time.

The seal isn't bestowed once and forgotten. Every studio is held to the same three tests for as long as it carries the seal. If a studio stops meeting the standard, the seal comes off.

Test I.

Living-home test

Their work survives the kind of use a real family puts a home through. Not a show home. A lived-in one, with dogs, children, dinner parties, weekends.

Test II.

Person test

We know the people behind the work and would put a friend in their hands. Every studio carries individual responsibility, not a faceless agency front.

Test III.

Care test

Every project comes with care notes: what was specified, where it came from, how to look after it, who to call when something needs attention. The record stays with the home.

How to commission

From a brief to a finished room.

You don't pick a studio cold. The Assistant learns enough to put two or three in front of you that fit, and the design brief lives on your home record from day one.

  1. 01.

    Begin with a conversation

The HoWA Assistant asks the right questions to understand your home, your priorities, and what feels right. About two minutes.

  2. 02.

    Matched, not assigned

We propose the design route that fits the project, our garden studio, our interiors partner, or both. You pick. The Assistant creates the design brief on your home record.

  3. 03.

    Commission

Project lives in HoWA throughout: drawings, mood boards, decisions, samples, costs, supplier records. You stay in the loop without managing it.

  4. 04.

    Looked after

When the project completes, every choice stays in the record. So in five years' time when a sofa needs reupholstering, we know the fabric, who supplied it, and who can remake it.

Ready when you are

Begin with a conversation.

The Assistant takes about two minutes. The studios match to the brief. You only meet the ones we think fit.
