At The House of Willow Alexander, sustainability isn’t a marketing buzzword — it’s the thread that runs through everything we do. From the moment we design a product to the moment it arrives at your doorstep, each step is intentionally crafted to reduce environmental impact while upholding the luxury and quality you expect.
In this behind-the-scenes look, we’re opening our (recycled, FSC-certified) doors to share the inner workings of our sustainable supply chain — the partnerships, decisions, and commitments that make our products better for you and the planet.
The Journey Begins: Conscious Sourcing
Our supply chain begins with a question: Where does this material come from, and how was it made?
We work exclusively with suppliers who share our values of ethical production, fair labour, and environmental stewardship. This means:
Organic cotton grown without pesticides for our textiles
Recycled glass and metals in our home décor and kitchenware
FSC-certified wood sourced from responsibly managed forests
Vegan, cruelty-free formulations for home essentials
Each partner is vetted for transparency, certifications, and long-term commitment to sustainable practices — not short-term greenwashing.
Local Where It Matters Most
While some of our artisan products come from heritage makers across Europe and Japan, we’re proud that over 60% of our collection is made right here in the UK.
This allows us to reduce transport emissions, support local craftspeople, and ensure fair wages. It also means we can collaborate closely on design and innovation, often working directly with makers to adapt processes for better environmental outcomes — like reducing water usage in production or switching to non-toxic dyes.
Packaging: Beautiful, Biodegradable, and Plastic-Free
Luxury should never come at the cost of the planet. That’s why every order you receive is packaged in fully recyclable, plastic-free materials — right down to the water-activated tape and compostable garment bags.
Even our branded labels and inserts are printed using vegetable-based inks on recycled paper stock. The experience of unboxing should feel indulgent — but also guilt-free.
Clean Transport, Carbon Offset
We believe that how a product gets to you is just as important as how it’s made.
All domestic deliveries are shipped using our certified carbon-neutral logistics network. Where possible, we partner with courier services using electric fleets or low-emission routing. We offset any remaining emissions through verified reforestation and conservation programmes.
Our commitment to transparency also means we show the carbon footprint of our supply chain, and we’re working toward real-time tracking and emissions reporting for our customers.
Long Life Products, Not Landfill Trends
Sustainability doesn’t stop at the point of sale. Our design philosophy champions durability, timelessness, and repairability — encouraging customers to invest in fewer, better things.
Where applicable, we offer refills, spare parts, and care guides to extend the life of our products. We’re also exploring a buy-back scheme and pre-loved resale for select collections in future phases.
What’s Next on Our Supply Chain Roadmap?
We’re not perfect — and we never pretend to be. But we are committed to continuous improvement, including:
Expanding B Corp certified suppliers
Rolling out digital product passports for full traceability
Testing biodegradable alternatives for remaining product categories
Reducing emissions across inbound freight by 30% over the next two years
