If you want to understand Home Stewardship, don’t start with the house, start with the garden. Long before we had apps, schedules, or systems, gardens taught us how long-term care actually works. A stewarded garden revealed a truth that modern life has tried to outrun: places don’t respond to force, speed, or neglect, they respond to attention over time. Dedication to careful consideration, seasonal change and inclement weather was a sign of perseverance, gentle management and a commitment to affect positive change to an unruly and often wild space. Gardens are where stewardship is most visible, when compared to a home that makes spotting issues over time tough. That is, until something goes wrong with the garden.  A garden cannot be “caught up” One of the first lessons any gardener learns is that there is no such thing as catching up. Miss a season and the garden doesn’t pause politely….
